PHP …you know you want to ;-)

This site is all about ‘useful PHP and MySql stuff’ in the hope that the topic will become even more popular in the future and that this site will be there to help people in their process of learning.

I guess I’m just stopping some poor PHP/MySql author from making some extra money in book sales, but I don’t think I care. The problem with books is you read about a great review on amazon saying: “Yay this book is fantastic for beginners blah blah blah” so you buy the book for its sale price, anywhere upwards of $80, pay the shipping, it arrives a week later and after reading the first and second chapter you realise you’ve found a overpriced dud containing bits and pieces of information that you could have easily found online for free. You don’t hate the author, but you hate the stupid reviewer who said it was great and wonder if there’s anyway you can staple their nuts together as a way of teaching them the fine art of good reviewing. You’ve just bought that author their groceries for the week, while you end up eating rice for the month because you paid for this book. Lucky you.

I’m not saying books on the subject suck the proverbial cheese, as I’ve found some beauties on the subject, so good in fact that they inspired me to start writing articles on the subject as a way of passing on the good information. I’ve also had various experience with web development projects, and you learn things along the way you later realise you WISHED you had known when you started. Those are the bits of information I want to publish here, in the hope of pushing the industry forward by teaching others from my mistakes.

It’s safe to say I’m addicted to web development in general. I love writing code to solve problems. I love coding in different languages (.NET and PHP, MySQL and MSSQL) so I get a comparison of what’s being used in the industry and why. I love writing code that works in all browsers, so it’s safe to say I like standards to a degree (or at least I like plugins to my browser that guide me in the right direction when it comes to standards - not sure if that makes me lazy?)

If you are here you probably share a similar addiction, so I am here to fuel the addiction. I’ve got PHP and MySQL pages for you to checkout. I try to make these as interesting as I can. All content has been written by me, so this isn’t one of those websites that just copies articles that already exist out there on the web. If you’re more into random thoughts floating around the web, my blog may fuel some interest.

And now, something all developers should appreciate ;-)
